COMMUNITY CENTRE

Just a few steps from our restaurant, the beautiful bamboo structure of our Kaura Bali Community Centre serves as an important cultural bridge between our guests and the local villagers – where each group can learn about the other while gaining a greater understanding of local craftsmanship and organic farming techniques. The centre also serves as a kids' extracurriculr learning space for creative arts, computer and nature-themed classes.

FIRE PIT

Late in the day, come and spend some quality time by our hilltop fire pit. Whether you’re roasting marshmallows, gazing at stars, or simply snuggled up in a blanket beside the soft flames, the Kaura Bali fire pit is an excellent place to unwind. With hammocks nearby to let you swing gently in the cool breeze, you’ll find perfect relaxation always within reach.

Traditional Cooking Classes

Balinese food is rich in flavours and spices, memorable, and best enjoyed when made together with the experts – the locals. Visit a family home and learn to cook tasty, much-loved local dishes with the women of Manggis, then enjoy the fruits of your labour together. Bonding over food is an essential practice in Bali.

From the Village to the Beach – Cycling Excursion

A stunning half-day ride using pedal-assist e-bikes to explore the broader Karangasem region. Learn about local livelihoods, listen to the stories a rare few have heard, and discover one of East Bali’s most stunning beaches. Sit down for a flavourful local lunch before heading back to the retreat.

Get Involved – Manggis Farming Immersion

Open Hours: 07:30 - 15:30 Hrs.

To be fully immersed in Kaura Bali means to get hands-on with its staple crops. Spend the morning or afternoon alongside the cheerful farmers who have supported their families for generations in the fertile valley. Gain insight into their organic farming techniques, and meet the famous goats that have become a proud symbol of the village’s success story and respect for traditional farming methods.

Our Village Orientation Walk

Open Hours: 06:30 & 10:00 / 15:00 & 16:00

A slow two to three-hour orientation walk of the village, its various farming initiatives, and its stunning immediate surroundings. Guests are accompanied by a local community member who has been directly involved in the development projects that formed the original, foundational relationship with the greater Manggis community.

Kaura's Spa

When it’s time to indulge in some deep relaxation, Kaura Spa provides traditional Balinese massage treatments alongside modern beauty packages. Supported by the sustainable travel specialists at Discova Impact, our spa also provides educational and training opportunities to select members of the surrounding Manggis community.
